I had a wonderful lunch here. I loved the airy open feel and the ambiance. The food was excellent an well prepared. We shared mussels and ordered prawns and the halibut. Nice wine list to choose from. Enjoyed some French wine the waiter helped select. Very pleased and I will return soon.

Overpriced restaurant with poor service. We came in and we're standing at the door for several minutes and we're not acknowledged by the bartender, or waitress who walked by. Later the maitre de came from the back and said "how many" without apologizing for being ignored. I said " I thought I was wearing an invisible coat, " to which he said, "this way". Food was ok but you'd expect that for the price.
The wait service was fair. We won't be going back. -

I have to give this restaurant its street cred because it is a staple on Bush St. but honestly aside from the amazing service, the food is just mediocre. The floors are greasy and I felt like I was going to slip as I carefully traversed between the front of the restaurant and the tightly squeezed tables/chairs throughout. With an injured ankle this was quite the task - this restaurant is definitely not ADA friendly. I was actually relieved we were seated at the front by the window (despite the treacherous walk to the restroom) or else I may have found myself claustrophobic, squished in the middle of the noisy restaurant.
My mom and brother ordered the SF Restaurant Week pre fixe menu including the famous cassoulet, the french onion soup, the escargot, chocolate dessert, and raspberry tart, while I had the endive salad and the scallop dish. It was mom's birthday so she had a candle in her dessert, but nothing additional to celebrate her special day that was actually on the night we were there. This was a bummer.
My endive salad was good, but not memorable. The scallop dish was overly salty and the bouillabaisse was lacking a certain je ne sais quoi. While the seafood was fresh, the mix of scallops sat atop mushy persian cucumbers? zucchini squash? wintermelon? I couldn't figure out what the vegetable was supposed to be as it was so unpleasant a juxtaposition to the delicate scallops, cooked in the way my mom makes sautéed overcooked Chinese vegetables.
I shared in the desserts my mom and brother had with their pre fixe meals and found the chocolate dessert to be unmemorable and the raspberry tart to taste as expected - good, but not unique in any way.
As a pescatarian there is not much I can order on the menu here and what I did order did not impress me in the least. Needless to say I can cross this one off the list and see what other French/Italian restaurants await me further down Bush St. -

Disappointing. The cassoulet was underseasoned and the prices overseasoned. Cuisine not what it used to be. Good bar, however, and honey-saffron creme brulee was excellent, but that's about it. Good for dessert and cocktails.

Le Central had a nice Paris feel to it. Wooden tables, big windows to the busy street, and very calm and relaxing interior.
The food was spectacular. I had the pork chop, recommended, and it did not disappoint.
The service was great and it was, overall, a relaxing and joyful lunch.
